Youth Volunteer FAQ

What are the hours for Buddies?
- You are committing to being onsite from 5:00pm – 9:30pm.
- Arrive at 5:00pm which gives time to check in, receive last minute instructions, etc.
- The event for Honored Guests is from 6:00pm – 9:00pm. Some guests arrived early last year.
- Plan of staying until 9:30pm, or until after your guest is picked up.

What do I wear?
- You need to arrive dressed and ready to serve as a Host.
- Guys: Shirt & slacks – no jeans! (tie preferred).
- Girls: A dress – preferably not your Prom dress.
Appropriate / conservative (meaning not too short, low cut or too tight).
This is a night for the Honored Guests to take center stage and shine.
- Girls: Hair & make-up is to be done before arriving.
- Girls and Guys: Comfortable shoes

**If you are dressed inappropriately, you will be sent home and not be permitted to serve.**

REMEMBER, this night is about our HONORED GUESTS. You do not want to be a distraction in ANY way from THEIR night. This is not your Prom.

Where do I park?
You should be directed where to park when you arrive (another good reason to arrive early).

What do I do when I arrive?
- You will check-in at the volunteer table.
- You will be partnered up as the “Host/buddy” for a specific Honored Guest. (We generally try to partner guys with guys; girls with girls).
- You will be by their side the ENTIRE EVENING, from 6:00pm until 9:00 pm (possibly earlier for early arrivals).

What does being their BUDDY look like?
- Your sole responsibility is to serve the Honored Guest and make them feel loved, honored, accepted and celebrated.
- You will be next to your Honored Guest when they get their make-up/hair done.
- You will go with them to the shoe shine station.
- You will go with them as they get their corsage / boutonniere.
- You will go with them as they get their picture taken (and you will be in a picture with them).
- You will go with them to the Limos, but only a Chaperon and photographer will ride.
- You will meet them and walk the Red Carpet with the guest.
- You will dance with them, eat with them (help get their food), karaoke with them, introduce them to other Guests.

This is a very special night for each Honored Guest, and you are a BIG part of it.

We hope that once Night to Shine is over, you will also consider it a special night for you too.

Thank you for your service!
