The NFL’s biggest game is celebrating its Gold Anniversary in the Bay Area. Super Bowl 50 is celebrating half a century of nail-biting games, exceptional seasons, unbelievable plays, amazing teams, incomparable athletes and brilliant coaches. An unmatched Levi’s stadium in the heart of Silicon Valley promises to give fans the ultimate football experience.

Looking back now, it’s hard to believe what humble beginnings the Super Bowl has come from. Let’s look at a few stats comparing the very first Super Bowl (Then) to the latest, Super Bowl XLIX (Now).

-Then- Less than 62,000 fans attended in 100,000-seat Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum
-Now- 70,288 (and 120.8 million viewers on TV) in the 63,400-seat University of Phoenix Stadium, which is expandable to 72,200 seats.

-Then- 338 media members were credentialed to cover the game
-Now- 5,500 media members were credentialed to cover the game and related events

-Then- Tickets sold for: $6, $10, and $12
-Now- Tickets sold for: lowest: $8,000, average: $10,352, most expensive $28,888

-Then- Winning team received $15,000 bonus, losing team received $7,500 bonus
-Now- Each player on the winning team receives $97,000, each player on the losing team receives $49,000
